Media uploader: Enable image upload for your site visitors

Allow your customers to upload their User Generated Content directly on your website

Updated over a year ago

The Media uploader feature can be integrated within a Flow, allowing your customers to directly upload their own images on your website. This provides them with an opportunity to engage with your brand while keeping their content separate from their social media accounts.

It supports uploading images from your users' local computers or their Dropbox accounts.

To add this Premium feature to your Flowbox account, please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager.

How to enable the media uploader

1. Open one of your Flows where you would like to add the media uploader.

2. Navigate to the 'Settings' section.

3. Select the 'Media uploader' section.

4. Toggle the 'Enable media uploader' option to activate the uploading button for your customers.

5. Click on 'Save & update' to apply the changes.

Media uploader styling and settings

When the media uploader is enabled, a new button is added to your Flow that the customers can use to upload their content.

You can customize the button's appearance and configure other settings according to your preferences.

1. Button color: Set the background color of the media uploader button to match your brand's theme.

2. Text color: Set the color of the button's text.

3. Rounding (px): Adjust the button's shape with the rounding of its corners.

4. Align button: Choose the alignment of the media uploader button (left, center, right).

5. Add default Terms and Conditions URL: All visitors that submit content through the media uploader are asked to agree to your terms and conditions before their content is accepted. This parameter accepts the URL to your terms and conditions page.

6. After changing the settings of your media uploader, always click on 'Save & update' to see your changes.

To further customize the appearance of the media uploader button, you can add custom CSS to your Flow.

Uploading images

Once you have enabled the media uploader, your customers will be able to find the uploader button in your Flow and upload images from two different sources: their computers or their Dropbox accounts.

Uploading from the computer

After clicking on the 'Upload your media' button, your customer will see the media uploader's popup window.

1. To upload from their own computer, they have to choose the 'Computer' option.

2. The customer can either click and select their image from their computer or drag'n'drop the file in this window.

3. They are asked to add a caption to their content. They can also add another image to their upload here.

4. The customer is asked to enter their details: a username (that can be anything they type in here), their email address, and optionally a profile image URL. They have to accept the Terms of Use and declare that they are over the age of 18.

5. When the content is successfully uploaded, the customer sees the following screen.

Uploading from Dropbox

After clicking on the 'Upload your media' button, your customer will see the media uploader's popup window.

1. To upload from their Dropbox account, they have to choose the 'Dropbox' option.

2. They are prompted to select the content from their Dropbox account.

Displaying uploaded media

Images uploaded by customers using the media uploader will be stored in your Flow Inbox, alongside posts collected from social media platforms.

These images will not be automatically displayed on your website. You'll need to moderate them (approve or reject) as you do with content from social media sources.

To access the moderation feature, navigate to your Flow Inbox and follow the usual content moderation process. This is to ensure that you maintain control over the uploaded images and only appropriate content is displayed on your website.
