Media uploader: Enable image upload for your customers

Enable your customers to upload their User Generated Content directly through your website or via a shared link.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The Media Uploader feature can easily give your user an easy way to engage with your brand while keeping their content separate from their social media profiles.

To add this Premium feature to your Flowbox account, please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager.

Enabling Direct Link

We suggest associating the Media Uploader Direct Link with your Collection Flow, often referred to as the “Master Flow,” to maintain a centralised collection point.

You can create a Direct Link to let your customers upload their media without sharing it on their social media.

  1. Click on your Collection Flow.

  2. Select the top-right three-dot (meatball) menu and click 'Settings' to open the popup box.

  3. Navigate to the 'Settings' section.

  4. Select the 'Media uploader' section.

  5. Toggle the 'Enable media uploader' option to activate the uploading button for your customers.

  6. Scroll down to the 'Direct link' section.

  7. Choose the language for your media uploader.

  8. Click on the "link" icon to copy the link to your clipboard and easily share it.

Note: Each language has its own dedicated link. To use different languages, you’ll need to select each language and copy its corresponding link.

Enabling Flow button

You can add a Media Uploader button to your Static and Dynamic Flows allowing your customers to upload their own media directly on your website.

  1. Click on ‘Settings’ directly from the Flows page or use the top-right button within each Flow.

  2. Navigate to the 'Settings' section.

  3. Select the 'Media uploader' section.

  4. Toggle the 'Enable media uploader' option to activate the uploading button for your customers.

  5. Customise the button's appearance and configure other settings according to your preferences.

    • Button color: Set the background color of the button to match your brand's theme.

    • Text color: Set the color of the button's text.

    • Rounding (px): Adjust the button's shape with the rounding of its corners.

    • Align button: Choose the alignment of the media uploader button (left, center, right).

    • Add a default Terms and Conditions URL: All visitors that submit content through the media uploader are asked to agree to your terms and conditions before their content is accepted. This parameter accepts the URL to your terms and conditions page.

  6. Click on 'Save & update' to visualise and apply the changes.

To further customize the appearance of the media uploader button, you can add custom CSS to your Flow.

Moderating uploaded media

Images uploaded by customers using the Media Uploader will be collected in your Flow Inbox, alongside posts collected from social media platforms.

By uploading content, users automatically grant you permission to share the rights to their media.

IMAGE

These images will not be automatically displayed on your website. You'll need to moderate them (approve or reject) as you do with content from social media sources.

To access the moderation feature, navigate to your Flow Inbox and follow the usual content moderation process. This is to ensure that you maintain control over the uploaded images and only appropriate content is displayed on your website.

To keep your approved media centralised, we recommend always distributing the media collected from your website to your "Master Flow".
This ensures you have a complete overview of all approved content in one place.

Uploading images

Once you have enabled the media uploader, your customers will be able to find the uploader button in your Flow and upload images from two different sources: their computers or their Dropbox accounts.

Uploading from the device

After clicking on the 'Upload your media' button, your customer will see the media uploader's popup window.

1. To upload from their own computer, they have to choose the 'Computer' option.

2. The customer can either click and select their image from their computer or drag'n'drop the file in this window.

3. They are asked to add a caption to their content. They can also add another image to their upload here.

4. The customer is asked to enter their details: a username (that can be anything they type in here), their email address, and optionally a profile image URL. They have to accept the Terms of Use and declare that they are over the age of 18.

5. When the content is successfully uploaded, the customer sees the following screen.

Uploading from Dropbox

After clicking on the 'Upload your media' button, your customer will see the media uploader's popup window.

1. To upload from their Dropbox account, they have to choose the 'Dropbox' option.

2. They are prompted to select the content from their Dropbox account.
