If a post failed to publish or if you have encountered a ‘Failed to notify’ error, use this guide to check potential root causes.
There may be several reasons why you have received this message. Use the following steps to troubleshoot some common potential issues.
Check your account's permissions
Go to the "Connected accounts" tab in the Settings and click on the downward facing arrow to the left of your Facebook account. Check the status of the "Instagram Content Publish" permission.
If it's not granted you'll have to grant the permission again. Go to the Publish section in your account and click on the "Create post" button on the top right corner.
Once in the post configuration window:
Select Instagram.
In the "Post Type" dropdown select "Post".
Click on "Configure".
Check your social media connections
The most common cause of the ‘Failed to notify’ error in Flowbox is that your social media account is disconnected from our platform.
If you’re seeing this message, a wise place to start troubleshooting is to check your connected social media accounts in your company settings. In case of an interrupted or expired connection, you can simply reconnect your accounts using the following instructions for Instagram and Facebook or these guides for Pinterest and Twitter.
Facebook requires additional settings on their end to grant users Page Publishing Authorization, such as enabling two-factor authentication on your Facebook Business Admin account.
Make sure your media formats are supported
Unsupported media is a common reason behind a publishing error. When creating a social post in Flowbox, the platform will automatically resize and format posts. However, on some rare occasions, we may fail to detect invalid media files.
If your post failed to publish, try editing your media file to make sure it adheres to the below requirements for image and video posts on Facebook and Instagram. You can easily adjust your attached files using the Photo Editor inside the Flowbox platform.

Copyrighted content
Keep in mind that if your posts contain any copyrighted materials, then you must comply with the advertising guidelines of the social platforms. Copyright violations could lead to the takedown of your content after being published or prohibition from going live in the first place.
In most cases, you will be notified by the social media channel if any copyright claim is found. Follow the instructions and procedures from the social media channel to address this issue.
Social platform or Flowbox technical issues
In the unlikely event that the above steps do not resolve the error in Flowbox, there might be some technical issues that are causing the error. You can check the status of our systems here.
Please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to inform the Flowbox technical support team of the issue.
General limitations
Publishing Instagram stories, carousel posts, and videos longer than 60 seconds is not supported by Instagram’s API when using auto-publishing.
This means that Flowbox (along with all other third-party apps) is unable to publish these types of posts to Instagram channels.
Bear in mind that, when publishing to Instagram using Flowbox’s Publish tool, all files must contain less than 100MB. Flowbox allows you to create and schedule Instagram stories, carousel posts, and videos that are longer than 60 seconds. However, due to Instagram’s API requirements, it is not possible for Flowbox to complete the act of publishing them automatically.
As a workaround, you can use Flowbox’s mobile app, which can be used by brands to get content published by mobile devices at a scheduled time seamlessly. Flowbox’s app will guide you through the uploading process to feed your Instagram account with content. As stated above, video content longer than 60 seconds cannot be auto published, but it can still be posted using our mobile app.
